Camouflage works in a very simple way: you define a hot-key combination, then, by using this combination, all the items from your desktop are hidden It is very popular in today’s Utilities software market, and its users love it deeply. Our testing report shows that the functions of Camouflage is powerful. Pressing the same key combination brings your desktop back. The program runs in the background, but it places a small icon in the menu. That icon reveals a menu which can customize the behavior of Camouflage. Besides the custom hot-key you can use features like: 'Click through', which allows you to click the desktop when the 'Hide icons' feature is on, 'Popup Desktop', which pops up a Finder window that displays the files from your Desktop directory, or the launch at login function. Camouflage also provides you quick access to the custom wallpaper function and display settings that are built in the System Preferences as preference panes. I found one issue in this application though. When using both 'Click through' and 'Popup Desktop' functions, it looks like some sort of conflict because it's quite obvious: just one of those actions can be active since they are both based on mouse clicks. But, the menu allows you to pick both of them. Pluses: it allows you to clean-up your desktop instantly without the need for an actual clean-up, it has some features that improve the usability of this solution. Drawbacks / flaws: the 'Click through' and the 'Popup Desktop' functionalities work in a conflictive way.
